ADOPTION PROCESS

1. Submit an adoption application

  • We ask for general information, two personal references, your veterinarian if you have pets or have had them within the past ten years, and your landlord/association information if applicable

  • We require all dogs and cats in the home to be spayed or neutered. Dogs must be up to date on the Rabies, DHPP, and Bordatella vaccines, and cats must be up to date on state required vaccines, which for most states includes the Rabies vaccine.

2. An Adoptions Coordinator reviews your application and calls your references.

3. Schedule a home visit with one of our volunteers.

4. Our Adoptions Team reaches out to you to approve your application or ask follow up questions

6. Start meeting adoptable dogs!

Please note that when multiple parties are interested in a certain dog, Meet and Greets take place in first come, first served order based on submitted and processed applications.

WHAT OUR FEES COVER

Our adoption fee is $475.

All of our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on required vaccines, heartworm tested (if old enough) and treated if positive, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and microchipped. The adoption donation also helps offset the costs associated with transport to New England, state mandated quarantine, and health certificates.

Our adoption fee only barely covers the cost for a healthy dog; many of our dogs have pre-existing medical conditions such as heartworm, which cost hundreds more. This fee is much less than you'd pay if you had purchased a dog, and all of it goes back toward our costs so we can continue to rescue dogs.
